Public Relations

Supporting Oakwood University’s goal of preparing student leaders, the Office of Public Relations acts as a liaison between the community/media and the University. This office handles publications, advertising, and internal and external University communications, which publicize the achievements of its students, faculty and staff. Staff members also assist in projects that strengthen the University's relationship with the Huntsville community. Producing publications and advertisements, managing the electronic marquee, and coordinating e-mail and voice mail communication for the campus are also part of our responsibilities.

The office is located in East Hall, the most historic building on campus, which was built in 1909. The building has served as a sanitarium, residence hall for academy boys, orphanage, faculty residence, and at one time housed the Department of English. Renovated in 1995, East Hall now houses the Division of Advancement and Development, Alumni Relations, and Public Relations.
