It is the purpose of the Department of Nursing to provide Christ-centered education for nursing students that promotes excellence in character, achievement of professional goals, leadership and service to a multicultural community; and prepares nurses to care for the bio-psychosocial and spiritual needs of clients across the life cycle in a variety of health-care settings.

The purpose of the Oakwood University Student Nurses’ Association (OUSNA) is to promote socialization into the nursing profession, foster scholarly development and provide leadership opportunities amongst declared nursing majors
Application for AdmissionStudents who wish to pursue studies in the nursing program track must first be admitted to the University and fulfill all the general admission requirements. Acceptance to the University, however, does not guarantee admission to the Nursing Department as a nursing major. A separate application process must be completed to be admitted into the nursing program.
