The Center was brought to Oakwood University through the vision, foresight and herculean efforts of Dr. Delbert Baker. Our only companion centers are located in Loma Linda, & Andrews University.
As full branch of EGW Estate headquarters in Silver Spring, MD, Oakwood’s Center houses all the Published & Unpublished works of Ellen G. White!
For those who might not know, Ellen White was the 3rd of 3 End-time prophets called by God to deliver a special message to both the Church and World in preparation for the imminent return of Christ.
As a church pioneer, reformer & humanitarian, Mrs. White helped guide the development of the Remnant Church from a fledgling handful of confused and fragmented people, following the Great Disappointment of 1844, to become a worldwide church of over 14 million. The global outreach of the movement launched by Ellen White, James White and Joseph Bates in the 1800s now includes a network of churches, hospitals, schools, broadcasts and publishing houses touching the lives of billions for good.
Oakwood’s center provides students and community with access to more than 100,000 pages of books, periodicals, letters and manuscripts written by Sister White for the benefit of those preparing to meet Christ in peace and in righteousness.
It is our privilege not only to preserve the heritage of the church, but to assist students, faculty and community in research. By helping those who access the resources of the Center answer questions regarding God’s message to His end-time people, we are able to connect past struggles and development of the Advent Movement with its present mission and future opportunities!
