Supporting Oakwood University’s goal of preparing student leaders, the Office of Public Relations serves as a liaison between the community/media and the University. This office publicizes the achievements of the student body, faculty and staff, and promotes campus events, through internal and external University communications, publications and advertising. Staff members also assist in projects that develop and strengthen the University's relationship with the Huntsville community.
The office is located in East Hall, the most historic building on campus, which was built in 1909. The building has served as a sanitarium, residence hall for academy boys, orphanage, faculty residence, and at one time housed the Department of English. Renovated in the mid-1990s, East Hall now houses the Division of Advancement and Development, Alumni Relations, Trust Services, and Public Relations.
