A design master plan is underway for the five acres that were initially designated as Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Local landscape designers have been contracted to keep the master plan moving forward. Irrigation has been installed, as well as sufficient electrical service for existing needs and projected future lighting equipment and expansion. Prospective improvements also include the addition of mausoleum and columbaria services. Shrub and floral plantings will be started in the spring of 2010. A part-time grounds keeper has been hired to help maintain the property. Fred Pullins, Director of Oakwood Memorial Gardens, reports that the number of families who choose our property as the final resting place for their loved ones has increased over the last year. Oakwood has always been known as “a place where loveliness keeps house”; the appearance of these solemn five acres at the south side of the campus property continue to make this a reality.
