Dr. Michael Christopher Gibbons, Associate Director of the Johns Hopkins Urban Health Institute at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, has recently received the MIRS Emerald Honors Award for Medical Leadership.
Dr. Gibbons is an associate director of the Johns Hopkins Urban Health Institute, and is on the faculty at the Johns Hopkins' Schools of medicine and Public Health. He has been named a Health Disparities Scholar by the National Institutes of Health. Gibbons is the author of "eHealth Solutions for Healthcare Disparities," "Handbook of Digital Homecare" and the Healthcare Disparities Solutions Blog. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Alabama and then completed residency training in preventive medicine, a cancer research fellowship, and earned a master's degree in public health, all at Johns Hopkins University. Gibbons is an Oakwood University alumnus, and is the son of Dr. Ashton and Mrs. Devalie Gibbons. Gibbons’ father, Dr. Ashton Gibbons, is a retired Oakwood professor
