Madison County officials renew warnings about no swimming in quarries after Oakwood freshman drowns
HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- With Huntsville and Madison County schools on spring break and the weather getting almost summerlike, local officials are urging kids to stay away from quarries and other private property if they feel like swimming.
The renewed warnings come after Oakwood University freshman Justin Hanna, 18, drowned at a quarry owned by the school but leased by Vulcan Materials Inc. The quarry is located off Alabama 53 and has "no trespassing" signs on the property, but it hasn't deterred everybody. Last August another man was injured after falling off the rocks.

Oakwood University freshman who drowned was 'spiritually focused'
HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- Just weeks before he died Friday in an accidental drowning, Oakwood University freshman Justin Hanna told his mother he was closing out his Facebook account and wanted to pray with her every day.
It was clear to those who knew Justin he wanted to spend more time with God and make sure his life was headed in the right direction.
Friends, faculty, Oakwood University president Dr. Leslie Pollard, and even Hanna's mother, were comforted knowing that during Saturday's candlelight vigil on the Oakwood University campus.
