HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- Reactions from Huntsville area religious and legal leaders to President Obama’s statement Wednesday (May 9, 2012) in support of gay marriage rights point to the issues still at stake.
For the Rev. Richard Barham, minister at Spirit of the Cross, an independent Christian congregation founded to be a faith home for gay and lesbian people and their friends and families, the announcement seemed historic -- but more symbolic than practical.
