161 Vehicles Checked During “Operation Safe Travel, Safe Return”

“Operation Safe Travel, Safe Return” 2008 was a success.  On Thursday, November 20, staff from Express Auto Lube and NAPA Auto Parts inspected and serviced 161 vehicles within the scheduled two hours.  The flow was constant and the participants were very appreciative of the services offered (free vehicle inspections and fluid top-offs prior to Thanksgiving travel).

The Huntsville Times reporter Budd McLaughlin interviewed OU Public Safety Chief Lewis Eakins, representatives from Express Auto Lube and NAPA Auto Parts, and several students.  Eakins said that the Oakwood’s concern is “not only with the safety of our students on campus, but off campus as well as they travel over the holiday season.”

Chester for facilitating the lunch ordering process, and to Captain Patterson, Sgt. Staples, and Officer Pressley for assisting with traffic and conversing with the students.
