Miss UNCF 2009 Crowned

Huntsville, AL:   The coronation ceremony of Oakwood University's Miss UNCF 2009 was held on Saturday night, December 6, 2008. The three young ladies vying for the title of Miss UNCF were Melissa Phillips, Cherie St. Bernard and Ayana Joseph.  Using innovative strategies to raise money, such as paint ball tournaments and snack sales, the three contestants raised over $6,000 for UNCF scholarships.

Ms. Melissa Phillips, was crowned Miss UNCF-Oakwood University 2009.  As Miss UNCF, Ms. Phillips will represent Oakwood University at all national, regional, and local UNCF/Pre-Alumni Council events and conferences and other special occasions. Her court for 2009 is first runner up Ayana Joseph, and second runner up Cherie St. Bernard.  These young ladies are to be commended for their efforts during this campaign.
