President Raises over $100,000 in Scholarships As He Targets 7th Continent!
Dr. Delbert Baker, OU President, is down under! He is set to run the Gold Coast marathon in Australia on Sunday, July 5th, as part of the Running for Scholarships program. His wife, Susan, who is a physical therapist, is with him, along with approximately 20,000 people competing in the marathon and other race events. Although it’s winter in Australia, the weather is very pleasant, as winter in Australia, and the race course runs along the beautiful eastern Australian coastline. More than $100,000 has been pledged for this race, which will be the seventh (7th) continent on which he has run. Altogether as a result of the Running for Scholarships program, more than $300,000 has been raised.
Special thanks are extended to Florida Hospital and other donors for their consistent support of the Running for Scholarship program that makes it possible for all funds to go directly to student scholarships. When Dr. Baker finishes this race, he will have achieved the goal of running a marathon on each of the seven (7) continents. He will continue his quest for completing a marathon in every state (so far he has completed marathons in 31 of the 50 states). Let’s support Dr. Baker with our prayers and as he runs in Australia to raise money for scholarships and witnesses to the efficacy of the Seventh-day Adventist health message.
