Alumni Relations Announces New Director
The Alumni Relations Department is back on campus. Not only is the department moving back on campus, but we have a new alumni director, Barbara Stovall. She comes to serve you with years of experience and a winning personality. Barbara has worked closely with the former Alumni Directors, Elder Sherman Cox and Victoria Miller for the past eight years. She has been instrumental with coordinating and facilitating the Alumni Weekend events. She also worked extensively with the Alumni Association, and Oakwood’s UNCF Pre-Alumni Council. You may have seen her smiling face or heard her cheerful voice, or met her congenial personality. Throughout her career Barbara has won several Appreciation and Outstanding awards in various capacities.
She is an alumna of Oakwood University. She has an Associate of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. She is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration, to be completed by January, 2010. Barbara is originally from in Myrtle Beach, SC, and she has lived in some exciting places, domestically and aboard. Rewardingly, Barbara has had the opportunity to travel to various places and to work with numerous individuals of different cultures and personalities. This has molded and shaped her abilities to work effectively with people.
Barbara is excited and looks forward to working and collaborating with all of you. Her goals are to cultivate and nurture relationships among our alumni and friends. Barbara has several scriptures that are dear to her heart, and she would like to share just one with you, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” (KJV) Eph. 3:20. God has blessed this institution in ways beyond measure. If we continue to work together as a family and partners with Christ, this institution will accomplish far greater heights. The words of Harvey S. Firestone sums up of the motto and the focus for the Alumni Relations department, “It is only as we develop others that we permanently succeed.”
