News Archives 2009 News OU happy to welcome its new and returning students
Oakwood University is happy to welcome its new and returning students. More than 500 freshmen and new students have arrived for registration, which began on August 12. Enrollment Management reports that 520 students have been cleared as of August 13, and more students are being cleared by the hour. Almost 1,000 students have been accepted, so a student body of 1,900 is within reach this semester. The traditional Parting Ceremony will be held in the Ashby Gymnasium on Thursday, August 14. Returning students will register August 17-18, and classroom instruction will begin on August 19.
Students will notice improved residential and classroom facilities across the campus. One of the most marked differences is the extensive renovation that has taken place in Blake Center, specifically the cafeteria. Square footage has been expanded, including meeting rooms for student organizations. The grand re-opening and ribbon cutting will take place on August 17. Pray with and for us as another exciting school year has begun.
