USCAA Division I Basketball Tournament
The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) has announced the All-American and All-Academic recipients for the 2009 basketball season. The athletes in attendance were honored on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the USCAA National Championship Banquet at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Pennsylvania.
Landon Bertram, an Oakwood University Ambassador’s forward, was recognized as the “Number 1” player for the All-American Division I Team.
Deshawn Preston, an Oakwood University Ambassador’s forward, was recognized as a member of the All-American Division I Team.
Kara Baxter, Sarai Cisneros, Jennifer Williams and Monique Woodson, members of the Oakwood Lady Ambassadors Basketball team, were recognized for their academic achievements as members of the All-Academic Team for the women’s division.
Congratulations to each of these players for their accomplishments.
The USCAA Basketball Tournament is being held on the campus of Penn State Fayette in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. There are 30 teams from three divisions participating in this tournament (8 Men’s Division I Team, 10 Men’s Division II Teams and 12 Women’s Team). The Official Men’s Division Tournament Seeding has ranked the Oakwood University Men’s Basketball Team as number four (4) in the field of eight Division I teams participating in this tournament.
Oakwood’s Ambassadors won their first game on Thursday, March 4 against Robert Morris University, 66-41. The game was broadcast live on WJOU 90.1 FM. According to the schedule, Oakwood goes on to play Talledega College on Friday, March 5. The game on Friday will also be broadcast live on WJOU at 9:00 a.m. (Central time).
