OU Social Work Department Accreditation Extended Eight Years
The Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) has extended the accreditation status for Oakwood University’s Social Work Department until 2018. The Department was one of the first programs across the country to successfully complete the new 2008 educational accreditation standards.
A letter indicating the vote to renew Department’s reaffirmation was received by President Delbert Baker in June 2010. The reaffirmation process consists of an extensive external evaluation of the Department by the CSWE Commissioners and an on- campus site visit by an approved social work site visitor using national standards as the key basis of assessment.
The CSWE site visitor noted a number of strengths within the Department, including:
Special thanks to the Academic Vice President, Social Work faculty and staff, students, field instructors, and the Advisory Board for their support throughout this demanding process.
The Council on Social Work Education is a nonprofit national association representing more than 3,000 individual members, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs of professional social work education. Founded in 1952, this partnership of educational and professional institutions, social welfare agencies, and private citizens is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation
as the sole accrediting agency for social work education in this country. www.cswe.org ![]()
