SPRING CONVOCATION KICKS OFF NEW SEMESTER
This year's Spring Convocation, officially beginning the second semester of the school year 2002-2003, was held Jan. 14, 2003, in the Oakwood College Church. The keynote speaker for the occasion was Ifeoma Kwesi-Hutton, who this year joined the Department of religion and Theology.
She is the first female member of the theology instructional staff. Prior to joining the Oakwood faculty, Mrs. Kwesi-Hutton was a much-sought-after counselor and motivational speaker. She is the daughter of Dr. Frank W. Hale, a former OC president.
Following her eloquent and thoughtful address, Dr. Delbert W. Baker offered a media presentation outlining the state of the college as the institution enters the year 2003. There was considerable progress to report as many construction and campus improvement projects reached their conclusion near the close of 2002, including the renovation of the snack bar/market and the purchase of a building adjacent to the college.
