Festival of Spirituals a Great Success

On Feb. 4, 2002, Festival of Spirituals II, featuring choirs from historically Black colleges and universities in our area, took center stage in the Oakwood College Church. Festival of Spirituals I took place during Oakwood's centennial year to rave reviews. Since then requests have been made for an encore.

This year's concert featured choirs from Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, Miles College, Oakwood College, Tennessee State University, Tuskegee University, First SDA Church Inspirational Choir, and Dynamic Praise. The mistress of ceremonies was TV personality Lee Marshall, and the special guest conductor was noted composer and arranger Roland Carter. Thanks to Dr. Roy Malcolm, program coordinator, and his staff for an outstanding musical event.
