Registration Again, But Not Bad
Registration for the new school year for new and transferring students took place August 15-20, 2002, in several locations around the campus, but mainly in the skating rink. The new plan, inaugurated at registration for the second semester 2001-2002, once again proved effective in virtually eliminating the huge lines and waiting areas that had become an exhausting part of the registration process.
Things moved well for the most part; unfortunately a huge backup formed at the Student Finance Office, but special thanks to everyone who was patient under some hot conditions. Thanks also to Mrs. Shirley Scott and her staff, who coordinated what was overall a well-run registration.
Once again groups of freshmen could be seen all around the campus under the guidance of the Ambassadors, who were helping the new students get acquainted and acclimated to the campus. How they were accomplishing this seemed a little strange, but it works and everyone seemed to be having fun.
On August 15, 2002, the "Parting Ceremony was held out in front of the library. A gentle rain was falling as freshmen and their parents spent a symbolic time together before passing through the entrance gate symbolizing their passage from their homes and families to Oakwood, now their second home.
That evening in Moran Hall the freshmen joined the Ambassadors for a little fun at a "pep rally." The entire Oakwood family welcomes back all of our students. We care for you. You are the reason for the existence of this great institution. Much success as you "hit the books."
