Development Holds Golf Tournament
On August 2, 2001, the OC Development Office held its annual Golf Tournament at the beautiful Canebrake Golf Course, near Athens, Alabama. The event benefits a scholarship fund for young people who desire to attend OC. The tournament was coordinated by Jan Ross, director of corporate relations. Jan's husband, Lynn, one of OC's golf pros, was tournament director.
Among the community leaders who participated were Senator Jeff Enfinger and former mayor Steve
Hettinger. OC was well represented. Dr. Calvin B. Rock, OC Board chair, also teed up for the event. Dr. Baker took a few lessons and expressed his intent to play next year.
Thanks to the support of corporate sponsors, the event was a great success. More than $20,000 was raised, while Huntsville community and business leaders joined OC golfers for an enjoyable time on the links and some nice prizes for the winners.
Thanks to Sodexho Marriott, our underwriter; our sponsors: Colonial Bank, Cracker Barrel, Enfinger Development, Huntsville Hospital, Lockheed Martin, OC Advancement and Development, SAIC, and Vulcan Materials Co.; and supporters, Balch and Bingham, Executive Group, Lesco, Inc., Madison Mission, OC Financial Aid, SAIC, Spectrum Solutions, Stan Williams, and the Von Braun Center.
We hope to see all of our participants next summer for the 2002 tournament.
