Deadlines & Events
To facilitate the financial aid process the following deadline dates should be given special attention:
September 14, 2009 to Applications accepted for Alabama State Grant for October 2, 2009 Fall Semester, (Alabama Residents ONLY).

Processing begins for the 2009-20010 F.A.F.S.A. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, (known as F.A.F.S.A.), IS AVAILABLE JANUARY 1 OF EACH YEAR. It must be filled out by anyone planning on attending Oakwood anytime during the next academic school year.
If you have missed the deadline you will still be served, but you should note that the beginning to the end of the entire process could take from 6 -9 weeks.

Priority filing for Fall Semester. Priority filer’s deadline for the fall is February 28th of each year. This means that a student must complete the F.A.F.S.A. and turn in all requested documents by February 28th of each year. This will ensure that the student is awarded BEFORE fall registration. (Being “awarded” allows the student to know how much aid they have to use to pay for their education. If more aid is needed please contact the office at 1-800-824-5321.)

Award letters available on line. Check your account by clicking the “My Oakwood” link on Oakwood's homepage. Proceed to login through the student portal and check the status of applied financial aid.

60% point in the Fall semester. First day to withdraw and earn 100% of the semester's Financial Aid is October 23, 2009. See Withdrawal Procedure. |

This means that a student must complete the F.A.F.S.A. and turn in all requested documents by November 14th. This will ensure that the student is awarded BEFORE spring registration. Remember: You can access the Internet and go to the Oakwood University website at www.oakwood.edu , click “My Oakwood" to view your award letter and incomplete file information. You can do this using I.D. number and password. If you do not remember your password, you can e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
