The goal of the Oakwood University HBCU-UP program is toincrease the number of well prepared competitively trainedminority graduates who pursue Masters or Ph.D degrees or enter the workforce in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines.

STEMER program activities include:

  • Research during the academic year/summer (Stipend up to $3000)
  • GRE preparation workshop
  • Presentations by visiting scientists
  • Visiting Graduate Schools
  • Attending various scientific meetings to present research

The Summer Bridge Enrichment Program is a two-week timetable of activities that allows high school graduates to experience Oakwood University, prior to their enrollment in the fall, and prepare them for future academic success. Students will receive academic instruction, campus survival skills, mentoring/advising and applications of academic learning. All participants will receive a stipend of $200.00 (and room and board will also be paid).

The Weekend Academy Tutorial Program will equip students (ages 13 and 14) to take standardized exams and to be successful in high school through a series of workshops and seminars on Reading, Mathematics, study skills and PSAT/SAT/ACT preparation. The various seminars are held on Sundays from 3 - 5 PM, with a regular break for refreshments.
